Music has always been a part of Teresa's life. Raised by musician parents, she began singing as a child and has spent years developing her voice through live performance and a wide range of musical projects.

Throughout her career, she has fronted several cover bands, including Ante M, Lovesick, Weekend Comeback, and Elektrik Dream. She also performed original music with The GT40's, adding songwriting and original performance to her musical background.

With Hynde Sight Teresa pays tribute to one of her greatest musical influences, Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders. Rather than simply recreating the songs, Hynde Sight captures the spirit, grit, and unmistakable energy that have made The Pretenders' music endure for generations. It's a celebration of timeless rock and roll, performed with authenticity, passion, and respect for the original music.

Bruce Mechan is an accomplished, two-time Capitol Records recording artist and a highly respected guitarist with deep roots in the Detroit, Michigan music scene. Throughout a career spanning several decades, he has become known for his versatile guitar work across both rock and country bands.

 

Mechan first gained national recognition as the guitarist for the Detroit rock band Flash Kahan in the late 1970s and 1980s after the group signed with Capitol Records with the help of Bob Seger’s longtime manager, Punch Andrews. The band’s music videos received airplay on MTV, further cementing their place in Detroit’s rock history.

 

He also recorded and performed with the Capitol Records-backed group Barooga Bandit and contributed his talents to other well-known Detroit-area bands, including RH Factor and Planet of Fun. In 2018, he joined the Tommy Steele Band, bringing his signature rock-driven guitar style to the lineup.

 

Today, Mechan performs with Hynde Sight, a Pretenders tribute band that reunites him with former bandmates. Reflecting on the opportunity, Bruce says, “I’m so happy that they asked me to play in Hynde Sight. I love everyone in the band, and I’m a huge Pretenders fan. James Honeyman-Scott is one of my favorite guitarists.”

Paul Shonk, bassist for Hynde Sight, was drawn to this project by the iconic Pretenders basslines. Most notably, he appreciates "My City Was Gone," "Back on the Chain Gang" (with credit to studio musician Tony Butler), "Brass in Pocket," "Precious," and "Message of Love" (with credit to original Pretenders bassist Peter Farndon), as well as "Middle of the Road" and "Time the Avenger" (giving credit to Malcolm Foster). Throughout the evolution of the Pretenders' music, the bass parts have always been engaging to learn and play.

 

Paul has played bass since high school, when he realized the foundational contribution the instrument has to rock music, noting, "If I learn the bass, I’ll always have a gig." He has played in multiple cover bands since high school, most notably RH Factor—a very popular band in the Detroit music scene during the 1990s. Paul played in RH Factor from 1990 to 1998 alongside Hynde Sight’s guitarist, Bruce Mechan. When Hynde Sight’s drummer, Rob Scalici, asked Paul if he would be interested in joining a Pretenders tribute band, Paul responded, "Let me call Bruce; if he’s in, I’m in."

 

When he is not holding down the low end for Hynde Sight, Paul is a singer-songwriter (www.paulshonk.com) and multi-instrumentalist. He has released one CD under his own name, titled "No Time for Sleepin’," and also performs with the cover band "Paul and Oates," which also showcases a unique trilogy of musical talent.

Rob Scalici has been chasing the perfect groove since he first sat behind a drum kit at the age of eight. Inspired early on by drummers like Peter Criss, Nigel Olsson, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Joey Kramer, Roger Taylor, Charlie Martin, and many others, his passion for the instrument only continued to grow.

 

Discovering the playing of Steve Smith, Todd Sucherman, Kenny Aronoff, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Dave Weckl inspired him to pursue formal training at the Percussion Institute of Technology (PIT) at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.

 

After graduating from PIT, Rob returned home to Michigan, where he performed with numerous bands, including The Rick Hall Band, Ante M, and Bedrock, building a reputation as a solid, versatile drummer with a deep love for live music.

 

Today, Rob is proud to drive the beat for Hynde Sight, paying tribute to the timeless music of Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders. A lifelong student of the drums, he continues to study with Somadhi Johnson and believes there’s always something new to learn.

 

His personal philosophy says it all: “I’m never going to be as good as I want to be, but never stop trying to be as good as I can be.”
